This was a finalist in the Unity Via Victories contest. Voting ended on December 31, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. pacific time. Our office had always fit a vast majority of brands of progressive lenses, and through time, we began to stay with a few brands that fit the needs of each and every patient—until we had to fit T.A.
He was a non-adapt to our first choice and went to two pairs. He was a pilot and was struggling with that as well, so the following year, new technology offered a brand with a lens design for general wear, and one geared for intermediate or near vision as the primary purpose. We tried two of the three on him to no avail. Another year goes by, and T.A. is really struggling. I asked him to try a new Unity® Via Elite Progressive lens that I personally had tried and was able to wear, as I had struggled to adapt as well with a Plano distance RX, but didn’t want to take my glasses on and off all the time. He graciously agreed to give the Unity Via Elite a try based on my high praise and recommendation because of my own success. T.A. came to pick up his glasses with zero expectations and sat at the dispensing table. I dispensed his new glasses to him (T.A. unfortunately always seemed to have something missing on his order or a flaw or a backorder). He was looking carefully to see what was probably wrong with this order, and he smiled and said, "You forgot the bifocal thing." I said that I did not, and that it was in there. I showed him the reading card at arms’ length and then in the distance so that he could "see" the difference in each area. He was stunned because the lenses didn’t bother him one bit. He has worn them faithfully ever since and is a true believer! Our office uses Unity lenses as our primary choice on almost every patient. We have no adaptation problems and a lens style to fit pretty much every need! We also are huge advocates for Unity Via OfficePro, as it makes a great work-specific pair with no adaptation problems and a great range. T.A. has Unity Via Elite for clear vision and sunglasses, and flies with them as well. We never thought we would see that day! I’ve been to many optical offices and by far this is my favorite office. They have so many choices! The staff helps me and my family pick out what looks best on us. It can sometimes get overwhelming!

Loved reading Flying High. A happy ending for a dedicated patient who finally found a progressive lens that works.

I too do not like progressive lenses, especially for driving. I would like to try this option. Sounds amazing.

Loved Lori and Dr. Smith. Wish it they weren't so far away since we moved across the country.
